Ad-Aware was one of the very first spyware removal programs made available to the general public. It has since grown a reputation as a leader in the industry with new releases each year to keep your computer protected from even the most advanced adware and spyware.

Unfortunately hackers and virus creators get smarter every year and create more advanced malware and adware. Because of the this ever growing change the detection engine in Ad-Aware has had some significant changes made to it. One of the down sides here is that only Ad-Aware’s paid version members get the full benefit of the new faster antivirus engine. A good reason to upgrade this year if you haven’t already.

Antivirus integration isn’t the only thing that’s been disabled in the newest Ad-Aware download. The real-time Ad-Watch guard, heuristics scanning, the scheduler, and plug-ins all join the antivirus as a paid member feature. Ad-Aware does still however detect and remove malware quickly and easily. Even still you’re going to need some added protection for your system if you don’t opt for the paid member download of the program.

Some small improvements from last year have been made. The updater no longer runs constantly bogging down your computer system. Instead it runs on demand when you tell it to do so. The interface and navigation have improved over the previous versions as well making it even easier to remove malware from your system.
