Users of home computers are often baffled by slow performance and crashing systems – after all, the average home PC user has little technical knowledge and can’t be expected to understand the workings of a computer. If your home computer is connected to the Internet (as the vast majority of PCs are these days) the single most important thing you can do to protect your computer is to take measures to avoid damage, and use virus protection.
In recent years there has been an enormous surge in the number of computer viruses floating around the Internet. People design these viruses and release them onto the web for many reasons – either to gain access to your computer files, attack users, or simply to show off their programming skills. Unfortunately, all too often Internet users accidentally allow viruses into their computer – often by opening emails from strangers.
Fixing computers that have been damaged by viruses can be very expensive. At the very least, a virus-infected computer can run slowly and be plagued by regular problems. The best way to protect your computer from the danger of viruses is to use virus protection software.
There are many places on the Internet that allow you to download free virus protection software. Simply run a search for “anti-virus” or “virus protection”. There are also many sites that will allow you to download a trial version of anti-virus software so you can see how well it works before you pay for the full version. You should never run your computer without any virus protection. Avoid damage and install anti-virus software today.
