Spybot Search and Destroy is one of the most well known free antispyware programs available today. Despite it’s well known name and array of features it’s also been known to have some bugs, making it lower on the recommendation list for many people.

Spybot Search & Destroy does have a fairly detailed list of adware and stays well updated to protect your computer system from those. And the newest release also includes several skins to improve the appearance of the interface. Dressing it up doesn’t make it work better though, and Spybot still has a tendency to freeze up on occasion.

The tree style display of results lets you see more of what’s going on in your system and whether or not you want to wipe out what it’s considering a threat. Among it’s many features we found the immunize feature to be very useful in blocking things before they reach your computer hard drive. In addition the secure shredder was also very helpful at destroying personal private files.

There’s no question that Spyboy Search and Destroy still has a great list of features and is very good at staying up to date on the latest threats to your system. It makes a great secondary line of protection for your home PC, even with it’s little quirks and the occasional freeze up.
